Cédric Lachat, now 38, reports the first ascents of „Fantasia“ and „At Home Cornus“ in the Vercors climbing crag in France. Both routes bolted eight years ago by Romain Gendey.

„At Home Cornus“ extends the 30-metre route „Atomes croch“ by another 10 metres.

„The crux is just after the crux of the original route, it is a bit technical and requires body tension and finger strength,“ says Cédric. „The difficulty is to climb what comes after (a boulder traverse up to a big slab) and save enough strength for the last moves.“

Fanatsia“ is also an endurance hammer with a length of 40 metres.

„I’m curious and open to other people’s opinions about the route and the difficulty“ says Cédric about his first ascent.

For Cédric, it was virtually a home game, as he lives near the climbing crag.
