As Robert Jasper shares on his Facebook Account, there was a big rockfall on the north face of the Eiger:

Big rockfall on the Eiger Northface! Affected is the famous Ghilini- Piola Direttissima and probably the new route „Renaissance“. On the Ghilini-Piola Direttissima, the huge rock pillar at pitch 22 collapsed and smashed the entire wall section below. The historic Direttissima was first climbed in 1983 by René Ghilini and Michel Piola in 5 days and rated 6b,A4 (1400 metres). The first free ascent was made by Roger Schaeli and Robert Jasper at the 2.08.2013 in 14 hours nonstop climbing redpoint (7c). You should definitely avoid this area of the north face in the near future!
