Der US-Amerikaner Matt Fultz kann mit „Blade Runner“ (8B+/C) einen neuen Topboulder klettern.

Der Boulder ist quasi eine Einstiegsvariation zu „Jade“ (8B+) und wurde vom jungen Schweizer Giuliano Cameroni erstbegangen. Bei der Bewertung war sich Giuliano nicht ganz sicher, bewertete ihn dann mit „soft“ 8C oder 8B+/C:„6 moves V10 into 3 moves hard and technical V13.. maybe 8b+/c“.

Vor Matt konnte sich Ben Burkhalter nach drei Sessions die, nach Sam Weird, zweite Wiederholung sichern, was wohl doch für die Bewertung 8B+/C spricht, da auch Sam sich eher für 8B+ aussprach. Nichtdestotrotz eine Superleistung Matt und Glückwunsch seiner Begehung. Zumal sich Matt erst letztes Jahr mit „Paint it Black“ in Rocky Mountain National Park, kurz RMNP, seinen ersten 8C-Boulder klettern konnte.

„Finally ticked this one off! I don’t think any boulder has put me through the ringer quite like this one…a wild testpiece that has as much to do with skin and conditions as finger strength. 3am alarms, countless splits…I enjoyed the process, but at the same time I’m relieved to be done with it ime for some ice cream!“
