Hard to believe, while first-time winners Warren Harding, Wayne Merry and George Whitmore in 1958 needed another 58 days through the nearly 1,000-meter-high near-vertical wall, Tommy Caldwell and Alex Honnold had a new speed record of only 2 hours and 10 minutes and 15 seconds used. A large part of the tour they must have climbed simultaneously with it. The old record came in 2017. Brad Gobright and Jim Reynolds climbed the route in 2:19:44 It was Alex’s second speed record, the first he set up with Hans Florine, who had achieved at least seven records.
