Dave MacLeod announces on Instagram the first ascent of the route „Hard Drive“ (E7 6c) at the Creag Mo on the island Harris (Scotland). According to Dave, the route offers fifty meters of brilliant rock and great climbing. The name refers to the adjacent route „Drive Station“.
The route name is also a homage from Dave to SMC Guidebook author Andy Nisbet „The Hard Drive E7 6c, First ascent on Creag Mo, Isle of Harris. Brilliant rock and 50 metres of great climbing. The name is related to the adjacent route Drive Station. But I also wanted to make a reference to a friend Andy Nisbet who died earlier this year. It will be the first time I will post a new route without having an email from Andy drop in my inbox asking me for a description for the SMC guidebooks. His meticulous work of compiling route information in Scottish climbing for decades was unrivalled as far as I have seen in any other countries I have climbed in. Besides his guidebook work and personal new routing, Andy was also known for tearing around the highlands at high speed in his car. So I thought it would be nice to name the route after @fredmorrisonpiper mental tune. „
