The 20-year-old American Pablo Hammack sends his first first ascent at grade 8C with „Love will tear us apart“. It could be the first boulder in the Yosemite Valley in this traditional bouldering area, with classics „Midnight lightning“ (7B +, V8) by Ron Kauk from 1978 or „The Dominator“ (8B, V13) by Jerry Moffat from 1993.
Pablo was able to get the 7th ascent of „Sleepwalker“ 8C + in December. „Sleepwalker“ has long been considered the hardest boulder in the United States. It was the 7th ascent of the Jimmy Webb Boulder in Black Velvet Canyon (Red Rocks).
In April Daniel Woods first ascented the sit start variant of „Sleepwalker“ an even harder variant, which he called „Return of the Sleepwalker„.
