Das US-amerikanerische Geschwisterpaar Shawn und Brooke Raboutou konnte sich jetzt zusammen jeweils eine Begehung des Boulders „Box Therapy“ im Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado, USA) sichern.

Brooke dazu: „One of the most magical days! Last weekend I rallied the family and we ventured out into the depths of Wild Basin. Shawn and I managed to do the ultimate dream: sibling send of box therapy, same day, back-to-back tries. To have our parents behind us shuffling pads and videoing was the cherry on top. I first touched this boulder in September 2022 and have not stopped dreaming about it since that day. It took me a whole year to get back on it, but in a few sessions, I was able to stand atop one of the most beautiful climbs I’ve ever done. Shout out to @tommycaldwell for finding the boulder and putting up the stand, @dawoods89 for the FA, and @ktlambies for recently doing the FFA and inspiring me to get back up there.

Grades are tricky because they truly are subjective and can feel different for everyone. Here’s my opinion: after chatting with my brother and others who have done the climb, I feel like V15 is an appropriate grade especially if I compare it to some of the benchmark V15’s I’ve tested. Above all, I am filled with joy and gratitude for my family and the adventures we get to go on together, as well as all the surrounding support that continues to push me further.“

Das Boulderproblem wurde von Daniel Woods im Oktober 2018 erstbegangen und wurde in letzter Zeit mehrfach wiederholt. Ursprünglich von Daniel mit 8C+ eingestuft gilt es jetzt eher als 8C. Mit Katie Lamp hat der Boulder im September diesen Jahres auch schon eine Frauenbegehung bekommen.

Die Kinder der Sportkletterlegenden Didier und Robyn  Raboutou (geb. Erbesfield) sind beide erfolgreiche Boulderer. Brooke konnte schon mehrere 8B+ Boulder wie „Trieste“ (8b+) klettern. So war „Box Therapy“ ihr erster 8C Boulder und sicherlich nicht der leichteste. Ihr Bruder Shawn ist einer der wenigen Boulderer, welche bisher einen 9A-Boulder klettern konnten. Brooke ist damit eine der wenigen Frauen, die bisher einen 8C-Boulder klettern konnten.

Vor Brooke Raboutou und Katie Lamp konnten erst vier Frauen einen Boulder im Schwierigkeitsgrad 8C klettern. So konnte Oriane Bertone mit „Satan i Helvete Low“ 8C im Jahr 2020 klettern. Mit „Horizon“ am Mount Hiei in Japan war es Ashima Shiraishi, die vor vier Jahren erstmals eine 8C boulderte, gefolgt von Kaddi Lehmanns Begehung des Boulders „Kryptos“ am Morchelstock in der Schweiz vor zwei Jahren. Christof Rauch jedoch gelang am 29. März 2019 die Begehung des Boulders in lediglich einer Session. Der 24-Jährige wertete den Boulder daraufhin von 8C auf 8B+ ab. Anfang diesen Jahres war die 13-jährige (!) Japanerin Mishka Ishi im Boulder Byaku-dou am Mount Hourai erfolgreich.
