At the first Lead World Cup 2019 in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland, the Swiss Sascha Lehmann and the Slovenian Janja Garnbret surprisingly started the new season with a victory. For Janja Garnbret, who also won the Overall Boulder World Cup 2019, it is not really surprising when she won as in the previous year. For Sascha it was the first World Cup in his career. Second places were equally surprising with South Korean Chaehyun Seo and Chinese YuFei Pan. Best German was Alex Megos with a good 3rd place. For Austria, the World Cup ended in a debacle. Best female starter was Jessica Pilz, on the disappointing 11th place. Likewise, Jakob Schubert had to settle for 14th place. Both dropped out dramatically in the semifinals.
