The young Swiss Alex Rohr opened up a new top route with „The Back Of Beyond“ 9a in the Swiss climbing area Soyhières in the Basler Jura. The route was an old project and an extension of the „Jusqu‘au bout du monde„ 8c. The route was boltetd in 1989 by Phillipe Steulet!
„Yesterday I finally did the first ascent of this longstanding project in Soyhieres. I had this project in my mind for quite some time now, but I waited in order to reach the level to do the lower pitch easily. After the anchor of ‚Jusqu‘au bout du monde‘, 8c, you run into a ~7C+ boulder which is really explosive and powerful. The main problem is that there are no rests. This Route is an absolute monster and I‘m glad that I could bring this visionary line from Phillipe Steulet to life. Thanks to my @rpare for the name suggestion and @sebastianhalenke for the belays.“
